From northwestern Hennepin County to southeastern Dakota County, the Met Council and our regional partners are working to protect and restore lands and waters in the metro region. Met Council Chair Charlie Zelle calls out a few examples of the great work being done in this beautiful region we all love.

Met Council candidate interviews are April 28

The Met Council Nominating Committee met to review candidate applications for districts 12 and 15 on Monday, April 14. Public interviews for the candidates in these districts will take place at the Dakota County Northern Service Center on Monday, April 28 from 5:00 p.m. until they are complete. Met Council endorses plan to adapt, improve Metro Transit service

The Met Council has endorsed Network Now, Metro Transit's framework for making transit service more available on busy corridors and between suburban communities. Fully implementing the improvements outlined in the framework would expand transit service by 40% compared to 2023 levels. Read about the key changes proposed in Network Now.

 

Met Council's land acknowledgment is backed by commitments, actions

The Met Council has adopted a Land, Water, and People Acknowledgement written by its American Indian Advisory Council. The statement refers to the commitments and actions the Advisory Council recommended – and the Met Council incorporated into Imagine 2050, the regional development guide – to address the legacy of genocide and displacement of American Indians. Public feedback sought on transition to bus service in Northstar corridor

The Met Council is seeking feedback from current Northstar Commuter Rail riders and potential transit users as we advance plans to transition from commuter rail to more flexible bus service options in the Northstar corridor. We're gathering input through an online survey as well as in-person and virtual events.

Immerse yourself in the world of water with relaxing sound baths; art creation; a panel discussion on the ways that water weaves connection through government, recreation, arts, and culture; and a big screen show of water images on the United Crushers building. Metro Mobility users, advocates may register for upcoming conversation

Metro Mobility customers and advocates are invited to participate in a gathering online (May 27) or in person (May 29) to provide input and engage in a conversation about Metro Mobility services. Accommodations will be made with advance notice - two weeks preferred. Register here.

The water that people use in their homes and businesses comes from nature. It must be cleaned up to be returned to nature so it can be used again. This is an important part of our water cycle. Earth Month is a great time to introduce children to the water cycle and how wastewater treatment works. Explore our Wastewater Treatment for Kids video and other educational materials.

 

Met Council seeks members for Livable Communities Advisory Committee

The Met Council is seeking people to serve on the Livable Communities Advisory Committee. We need members with expertise in local government, development finance, affordable housing, environment, and other areas. The committee evaluates applications and recommends funding awards for Livable Communities grants. Members will serve two-year terms beginning in July 2025.
