Construction this winter

Fencing and signage are being installed throughout the project corridor over the winter. Construction crews will continue working over the winter on station platforms and remaining construction items. Metro Transit will turn on and test station amenities over the winter. Remaining landscaping work will occur in spring 2025.  

No parking reminder

Pay attention to new parking and access restriction signage that has and will continue to be installed over the next few weeks. Areas that are signed as no parking are subject to local citation and towing regulations.

Downtown St. Paul highlights

• In Downtown St. Paul, crews continue station construction.

East St. Paul highlights

• Crews work on the Mounds Boulevard and 3rd Street signal intersection.  
• Crews continue to drill fence posts and install fencing.

• Construction continues for the new Woodlane Park & Ride near the intersection of Woodlane Drive and Guider Drive.

Gold Line Extension to Minneapolis in 2027

In 2027, Gold Line service will extend to downtown Minneapolis, allowing people to travel more efficiently across the metro. The Gold Line Extension will bring new, enhanced stations to Interstate 94 and Snelling Avenue as well as near U.S. Bank Stadium. In Minneapolis, the Gold Line will utilize existing bus rapid transit stations on 7th and 8th streets and bring riders to the METRO Green Line Extension’s Royalston Avenue/Farmers Market Station.

When in service, the Gold Line Extension will replace Route 94, the express route operating between downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul, which currently serves around 800 riders each weekday. The Gold Line will provide a one-seat ride and offer frequent service seven days a week. For more information, visit: https://www.metrotransit.org/gold-line-extension.

• MnDOT I-94 Pavement project
  • A large pavement project on I-94 between Hwy 120/Century Ave. and the St. Croix River began in July 2022. This project work is anticipated to take two and a half years to complete.
• City of Saint Paul Ruth Street Resurfacing
  • Ruth Street from Burns Avenue to Nokomis Avenue.
• City of Saint Paul Capital City Bikeway Kellogg Boulevard Phase 1
  • A portion of the Capitol City Bikeway along Kellogg Boulevard from St. Peter Street to Jackson Street will be constructed between July 2023 and summer 2024.
• City of Saint Paul Kellogg Bridge Project
  • The Kellogg-3rd Street bridge closes and construction begins July 29
• City of Woodbury Bielenberg Drive and Currell Boulevard Rehabilitation Project
• Metropolitan Council Environmental Service Lake Elmo West Connection
  • Installations of sewers on the north side of I-94 between I-694 and Inwood Avenue in Oakdale and replacement of existing sewer crossing I-94 near Bielenberg Drive/Helmo Avenue.

• Minnesota Street Reconstruction Phase 2
• Robert Street Reconstruction

• MnDOT Highway 61 Study
  • A study along Hwy 61 from I-94 to Lower Afton Rd. in St. Paul to determine what safety, mobility and accessibility improvements are needed for a 2027 resurfacing project.

The METRO Gold Line is a planned ten-mile dedicated Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line that will connect St. Paul, Maplewood, Landfall, Oakdale and Woodbury generally along Interstate 94.
