Downtown St. Paul highlights
Upcoming:
- Next week, crews begin work at the Union Depot & Sibley Street Station area. Starting May 13, expect a lane closure on the north side of Sibley Street between 5th Street and 4th Street.
Ongoing:
- Crews pour concrete for the station foundations walls at the 6th Street & Washington Station area.
- Crews relocate utilities and excavate at the 6th Street & Jackson Street Station area. Next week, crews will pour concrete for station foundations.
- Metro Transit is detouring buses traveling on 6th Street in downtown St. Paul to 7th Street.
Traffic:
- Lane closure on the north side of 6th Street between Jackson Street and Robert Street.
- Inside lane closures on 6th Street and St. Peter Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained to businesses.
- Lane closures adjacent to station platforms on 5th Street and 6th Street.

East St. Paul highlights
Upcoming:
- Next week crews will paint the Etna Street bus-only bridge. Expect lane closures at the Etna Street area and on Highway 61 on- and off-ramps during this work. Expect ramp closures on Highway 61 on- and off-ramps during off-peak hours.
- May 7 and May 8 expect inside lane closures on McKnight Road between Hudson Service Road and I-94.
- Starting Wednesday, May 8, crews resume work at the stormwater pond near the intersection of Griffith Street and Johnson Parkway that will continue through the summer. Crews will remove any standing water and add a sand drainage layer to the pond before installing drainage pipes. After the pipes are installed, grading and seeding will be occur for temporary erosion control prior to final landscaping and site restoration later this fall.
- In May, crews will close and reconstruct the Old Hudson Road and Hazel Street intersection and Old Hudson Road and Luella Street intersection.
Ongoing:
- Station construction continues near the intersection of Mounds Boulevard and Third Street. Crews pour concrete for approach slabs at the station.
- Crews install lighting, install topsoil and paint retaining walls along Hudson Road between Maple Street and Johnson Parkway.
- Crews construct decking for a bus-only bridge over Johnson Parkway near I-94. Pedestrian access along Johnson Parkway under I-94 will be maintained.
- Crews install noise walls, remove pavement, and install storm sewers along Hudson Road between Old Hudson Road and east of Kennard Street.
- At White Bear Avenue, crews continue noise wall and retaining wall construction. Expect additional noise and vibrations as crews pile drive for retaining wall construction.
- Crews install storm sewers and watermain along Old Hudson Road between Ruth Street and McKnight Road. Next week, crews will excavate the station area.
- Crews install bridge decking near the intersection of McKnight Road and Hudson Road for a pedestrian and bus-only bridge.
Traffic Impacts:
- Maple Street pedestrian bridge remains closed.
- Hudson Road between Wilson Avenue and Maple Street closes to traffic. Local access to residences will be maintained.
- Hudson Road east of Frank Street to Griffith Street remains closed. Access to properties is maintained from the west to Frank Street.
- Concrete lanes adjacent to Hudson Road are future bus-only lanes for the Gold Line route. They are closed to regular vehicle traffic.
- Johnson Parkway is closed between Wakefield Avenue and Hudson Road underneath Interstate 94. Follow posted detour route via 3rd Street, Etna Street, and Burns Avenue. The closure will remain in effect through June 2024. Pedestrian access along Johnson Parkway under I-94 will be maintained.
- Hudson Road from Old Hudson Road to east of Kennard Street is closed to traffic. Local access is maintained.
- White Bear Avenue is closed until fall 2024 between Old Hudson Road and the eastbound I-94 on- and off-ramps.
- Old Hudson Road is closed between Ruth Street and McKnight Road as crews reconstruct the roadway and install underground utilities. The western driveway access on Old Hudson Road to Sun Ray Shopping Center is closed. Access to Sun Ray Shopping Center is maintained from McKnight Road. Local business access from Ruth Street to Pederson Street is maintained from Ruth Street.

Maplewood/Landfall/Oakdale highlights
Ongoing:
- Crews construct bridge decking near the intersection of McKnight Road and Hudson Road for a pedestrian and bus-only bridge.
- Construction activities continue on Century Avenue/Highway 120 as work continues on the pedestrian and bus-only bridge over Century Avenue. See MnDOT I-94 Pavement Project, listed under “Nearby Projects Under Construction” section for additional traffic impacts to this area.
- Crews install watermain along Hudson Boulevard, east of Century Avenue/Hwy to Dellwood Lane. Work is paused between Graystone Avenue and Hadley Avenue.
- Crews remove pavement and excavate on 4th Street between Hadley and Helmo Avenue. Retaining wall construction continues along 4th Street.
- Crews concluded overnight bridge girder setting work and continue installing bridge decking.
- Crews install lighting and signals at the Helmo Avenue and 4th Street intersection. At the Helmo Station area, crews pour concrete for the surrounding platform area. Next week crews will pave station area sidewalks and paint the retaining wall.
Traffic impacts:
- Lane shifts and lane closures near McKnight Road and Hudson Road will continue this spring.
- Century Avenue/Highway 120 is reduced to a single lane in each direction between Innovation Blvd and Brookview Drive, on either side of the I-94 overpass.
- Hudson Boulevard is closed from Century Avenue/Highway 120 to Dellwood Lane and from Greystone Avenue to Hadley Avenue. Access to businesses and the city of Landfall will be maintained from 10th Street and Greenway Avenue. Route 219 will continue to serve Landfall community near Dellwood Lane and Hudson Boulevard.
- 4th Street is closed between Hale Avenue and Hayward Avenue, and from Hayward to just west of Helmo Avenue. The segments of 4th Street will be closed for the 2024 construction season as crews reconstruct the roadway and bridge over I-694. Access to businesses will be maintained via Hayward Avenue. Follow the posted detour route.

Woodbury highlights
Upcoming:
- Next week crews will grade trails and sidewalks along Bielenberg Drive.
Ongoing:
- On Guider Drive west of Bielenberg Drive, crews continue to construct the Queens Station and install a signal system at the intersection of Guider and Bielenberg Drive.
- Construction continues for the new Woodlane Park & Ride near the intersection of Woodlane Drive and Guider Drive. Crews continue to construct the future park & ride structure.
Traffic impacts:
- Guider Drive is closed between Bielenberg Drive and Queens Drive. The eastern driveway entrance to Crown Villa Apartments is Access is maintained via the western driveway entrance and the middle driveway entrance will be under gravel and be closed intermittently through construction activities. Follow posted detour route via Valley Creek Road and Woodlane Drive.
