The South Cedar Lake Trail will be closed beginning Monday, March 18 to construct and install one of the Traction Power Substations (TPSS). Traction Power Substations (TPSS) are an essential piece of LRT operations that provide electricity to the LRT vehicles by converting AC current from the electric grid to DC current which powers trains.  

This closure is anticipated to last into early May. For the duration of this closure, the trail will reopen to recreational traffic on weekends. Barriers will be removed and reinstalled at the beginning and ends of the work week to keep trail users out of the construction site. A future closure may be needed later this spring or summer for follow-on work. See the map above for the detour route, which uses the same route that was utilized when the trail was previously closed.
