Interstate 94 will be closed in both directions overnight on January 27 and January 28 while utility crews work at White Bear Avenue. I-94 in the east metro will be closed 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. each night:
- Friday January 27 overnight to Saturday January 28
- Saturday January 28 overnight to Sunday January 29
Follow posted detour route on Interstate 35E and Interstate 694 if you are traveling during this time.

Over the winter, work will continue, including retaining walls, noise walls, bridges, and the Woodlane Station Park and Ride ramp.

- Limited construction activities this winter in Downtown St. Paul.
East St. Paul highlights
Ongoing:
- Crews drill holes and place posts for the construction of a noise wall near the intersection of Maria Avenue and Hudson Road. Residents in the area will experience an increase in noise and vibrations during these activities.
- Between Earl Street and Frank Street crews continue to construct noise walls.
- Crews construct foundations and walls for the Earl Station at Hudson Road and Earl Street.
- Between Frank Street and Griffith Street, crews install noise wall posts.
- Bridge construction continues at Johnson Parkway. Crews wrap up the first phase of pile driving activities. Expect intermittent closures of Johnson Parkway underneath I-94 during pile driving activities and additional noise and vibrations during this activity. Follow the posted detour route.
- Work continues on the retaining wall near Old Hudson Road and Luella Street. Pile driving activities continue for retaining wall construction near Old Hudson Road and Luella Street. Expect additional noise during this activity. The closure will remain through mid-February 2024.
- This week, crews continue pile-driving activities near the intersection of McKnight Road and Hudson Road for a pedestrian and bus-only bridge.
- Crews completed grading the area for bridge work and installed sanitary and stormwater sewers near the intersection of McKnight Road and Hudson Road.
- Private utility relocation work continues along Hudson Road and McKnight Road in East St. Paul.
Traffic Impacts:
- Maple Street pedestrian bridge remains closed.
- Hudson Road east of Frank Street to Griffith Street remains closed this winter. Access to properties maintained from the west to Frank Street.
- Concrete lanes on Hudson Road are future bus-only lanes for the Gold Line route. They are closed to regular vehicle traffic.
- Expect intermittent closures on Johnson Parkway between Wakefield Avenue and Hudson Road underneath Interstate 94. Follow posted detour route.

Maplewood/Landfall/Oakdale highlights
Upcoming:
- Due to subzero temperatures, the 4th Street bridge closure was delayed until Wednesday, January 17, over Interstate 694 between Hale Avenue and Hayward Avenue in Oakdale. This closure was delayed for the safety of crew members. The bridge will be closed for the 2024 construction season as crews demolish and reconstruct the bridge. Follow the posted detour route.
- Expect a full weekend closure of Interstate 694 in February. Crews will demolish the 4th Street bridge during the weekend closure.
Ongoing:
- Crews continue pile-driving activities near the intersection of McKnight Road and Hudson Road for a pedestrian and bus-only bridge.
- This week, construction activities continue on Century Avenue/Highway 120 as crews construct foundations for the pedestrian and bus-only bridge over Century Avenue.
- Private utility relocation work continues along 4th Street, Hadley Avenue, and Hudson Boulevard in Oakdale.
Traffic impacts:
- Lane shifts and lane closures near McKnight Road and Hudson Road will continue this winter.
- Century Avenue/Highway 120 is reduced to a single lane in each direction between Innovation Blvd and Brookview Drive, on either side of the I-94 overpass.

Woodbury highlights
Upcoming:
- Continue to expect daytime intermittent road closures over the next two weeks on Guider Drive between Woodlane Drive and Bielenberg Drive as crews build a retaining wall.
Ongoing:
- Crews wrap up signal installation along Bielenberg Drive between Hudson Road and Tamarack Road.
- On Bielenberg Road, from Tamarack Road to the south crews install signals, and private utility relocation work continues.
- Construction continues for the new Woodlane Park & Ride near the intersection of Woodlane Drive and Guider Drive. Crews install underground utilities, a retaining wall, and pour concrete for the future park & ride structure.
Traffic Impacts:
- Northbound and southbound traffic on Bielenberg Drive between Hudson Road and Guider Drive is returned to a regular configuration running on either side of the center median. Both directions for traffic will be reduced to one lane during installation of traffic signals.
- Guider Drive between Bielenberg Drive and Queens Drive is partially reopened temporarily for the winter.
- Expect daytime intermittent road closures over the next two weeks on Guider Drive between Woodlane and Bielenberg Drive as crews construct a retaining wall. Local access is maintained via Valley Creek Road and Woodlane Drive.
