Civil construction along the Green Line Extension alignment is over 60% complete, setting in motion the commencement of systems construction work. Systems work is comprised of electrical components necessary to power the METRO Green Line Extension, traction-power sub stations (TPSS) and signal houses, catenary poles and electrical cables, signal and fiber optic cables, and grade crossing equipment.
There are approximately 900 catenary poles, 30 miles of electrical wiring, 19 TPPS stations, and 36 signal houses to construct and/or install. Installation of catenary poles and TPSS foundation work began in Eden Prairie this fall and will continue throughout the corridor in 2023. This milestone activity displays the overall progress that the project has achieved.
