“The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives.” Effective communication can reduce stress and conflict, enhance relationships and understanding, decrease communication barriers, and increase the ease in which we achieve our goals.
Join LOD for the Communication Fundamentals class to learn the basics of good communication and hone the skills necessary to positively impact your daily life.
In this class, participants will:

Practice strategies to achieving effective communication
The class is offered from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22.
Competencies for this class include customer focus, situational adaptability, interpersonal savvy, manages conflict, instills trust, communicates effectively, and being resilient.
This class is part of the Leading Self: Communication Certificate series, designed to help improve the critical communication skills of everyone at the Met Council. You can take the Communication Fundamentals class on its own or as part of pursuing the Communication Certificate. The Benefits team is hosting quarterly webinars this year on specific benefit plans to help keep our employees informed. Our final event for 2022 will be about retirement.
Retirement planning involves your pension plan, any deferred comp or Healthcare savings plan you may have, Medicare or other health offers, social security and government programs.
Join us next week to learn more about what to do when planning to retire. The plan administrator will be present to share how to best use our plan now and in the future.

New clinic hours starting October
New hours for both clinics will start Oct. 1. These changes are based on utilization of the clinics.
Please note the new hours:

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Tuesday and Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Bivalent boosters coming Oct. 3
COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are available by appointment on Mondays and Thursdays at both Well@Work clinics.
Starting Monday, Oct. 3, the clinics will offer the COVID-19 bivalent booster. The booster is available to those age 12 years and older who have completed the primary vaccination series. You can start scheduling appointments for the bivalent booster now.
Schedule your flu shot
Flu shots are now available at the Well@Work clinics by appointment. The clinics have the regular flu vaccine as well as the high-dose flu vaccine for those age 65 years and older.
Flu shot clinics are also being held at many Met Council sites this month, and employees do not need appointments – simply stop by during the scheduled time to get your flu shot. Review more details and the schedule.

Visit our Met Council scheduling page.
- Click the "Schedule online" button and sign into your HealthPartners account, or click "Find an appointment first" if you don't have a HealthPartners account.
- Select "Primary care" as your visit type.
- Answer the questions about your visit – including if you want a phone or video visit.

Select the Met Council St. Paul or Heywood Well@Work clinic when the page appears.
- After answering a few questions, you will be asked to create an account if you don't have one.

Bring your employee badge with you to access the clinic. Masks are required while in the Well@Work clinics. Employees and dependents 18 months and older on the Met Council-sponsored health plan can be seen at either the Minneapolis or Saint Paul clinic.

Join a virtual information session later this month to learn about the next MentoringWorks Program, which kicks off in January 2023. HealthPartners is continuing their online health programming. This is a great opportunity to check in with HealthPartners programs like Wellbeats on-demand classes, healthy thinking programs, and other programs to track your health habits.
The HealthPartners programs are available for employees who have HealthPartners medical or dental coverage through the Met Council.
New this year: Spouses on a Met Council HealthPartners medical plan can participate in HealthPartners’ online health programming!
