Using social media to expand posting's reach

Everyone has a role in attracting great talent to the Met Council, and in this challenging labor market it's especially important to leverage all our resources, networks, and connections to reach the broadest audience possible with our open positions.

We can all help expand the reach of our job postings, and social media is a powerful way to reach each of our unique, diverse networks. With your help, we can attract a talented applicant pool as diverse as our networks and the communities we serve.

Talent Management has created a new tool to make it easy for staff to share job postings. Check out the Hiring Manager Social Media Guide (PDF) for tips and sample messages for sharing job postings on social media.

#StayConnectedMN week 3: Create community

Social connection can help us heal our sorrows, feel seen and heard, offer us comfort when we are sad, move forward after a setback, improve our health, sleep better, create access to resources and information, and more. Social connectedness includes more than just our closest relationships; we also all have a need, at any age and at any stage in life, to connect to something bigger than ourselves.

Here are some reflection questions to help you think about ways to grow your community connections:

  • What do you like about your community (cultural, faith, work, or neighborhood)? How do others contribute to that factor? Can you help support that good thing that you love? Can you connect with others who like that same thing (e.g., hiking clubs)?
  • How can you make others feel welcome in your community?
  • Where do you feel a sense of community now, or where have you felt it in the past?
  • What do you care about in your community?
  • What are the big and little ways you can participate in your community?
  • What are your personal strengths and how can you use them to support what you care about most?

To read the full message and get more resources for this week's topic, check out the #StayConnectedMN campaign toolkit (PDF)

We know that connection is not the only factor impacting mental health. Please know that free counseling services are available through our employee assistance program, Sand Creek. Join us as we explore tastes, flavors, and cultural traditions from around the world through cooking demonstrations featuring local chefs.

To learn more about the many backgrounds that make up our region and beyond, Fit For Life is hosting various chefs throughout the year for our Cooking Up Culture virtual series.
