[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced the appointment of a Metropolitan Council nominating committee for the District 6 vacancy on the Council, including Chair Charlie Zelle and the community leaders who reviewed applications for the Council in 2019.
This committee will hold public meetings to accept statements from, or on behalf of, applicants for this position. Following these meetings, the nominating committee will recommend to the Governor candidates for appointment as a member representing District 6 on the Metropolitan Council. Minnesotans can apply for the District 6 vacancy on the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Website at https://commissionsandappointments.sos.state.mn.us/Agency/Details/80.
Applications are due November 10, 2021.

The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning organization for the seven-county Twin Cities area. The Council runs the regional bus and light rail system, including Northstar Commuter Rail, collects and treats wastewater, coordinates regional water resources, plans regional parks, and administers funds that provide housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals and families. The Council board is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Governor.
