In order to report to work onsite, Met Council employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or get weekly COVID-19 tests and test negative.
Employees who need to test each week must complete their test by 11:59 p.m. each Thursday.
You have the following Council-facilitated options for testing that will automatically update your employee record.
- Onsite and take-home saliva tests will be available at most work sites. Specific processes for accessing a test will be communicated through your division incident command.
- You may choose to schedule a test through HealthPartners and use the code 10397. Refer to this resource for step-by-step instructions (PDF) (updated 10-13-21).
- Some parts of the Met Council (including the Metro Transit Police Department) will also have access to onsite, rapid tests.
You may also choose to get your own test some other way. If you choose your own method, you will need to manually enter your test results in Employee Self Service.
Read last week's all-staff COVID-19 email for more details on the testing process or how to provide proof of vaccination.

In further recognition of October being National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Human Resources, in partnership with the Office of Equal Opportunity, will be initiating a 12-week pilot Ability Internship Program in summer 2022.
The Ability Internship Program is not only designed to increase Met Council internship opportunities for people with disabilities, the program is also intended to expand Met Council employment opportunities for people with disabilities who have completed the internship program.
The pilot program will provide access to inclusive internship positions in each division that are unique, individualized opportunities to help interns gain marketable and transferable skills.
Hiring managers will be able to request their interns starting Monday, Oct. 18, and this will include the request for the Ability Internship Program as well.
If you have any questions about the program, please contact Luis.Martinez@metc.state.mn.us or Guthrie.Byard@metc.state.mn.us.

Support is often helpful after getting a diagnosis of breast cancer for both the patient and the attending caregiver. If finding support is important to you or your loved one, there are a number of breast cancer support groups in the metro region, including HealthPartners Specialty Center in Saint Paul. There are also telephone support groups available through Susan G. Komen and various monthly meetings held by breast cancer survivors through the African American Breast Cancer Alliance.
Breast cancer doesn’t only impact the patient; the loved ones surrounding them are impacted as well. There is a great deal of strength that is required from caregivers, and that’s not an easy task. If you find yourself in the position of caring for someone in your life as they face cancer treatment, or any illness, know that there is support to also help you through the difficult times. One option is Sand Creek, our employee assistance program, which offers a wide array of support services including a 24-hour crisis hotline, short-term counseling, and professional counselor referrals. For more information, call Sand Creek at 1-888-243-5744 or visit SandCreekEAP.com (company code: metcouncil).
Annual screening mammograms are the best way to detect breast cancer at its earliest, more curable stages. Mammo-a-go-go is a convenient, and safe, way to get your screening taken care of. This year, the Mammo-a-go-go truck will be available at two of our locations. Please visit the Breast Cancer Awareness MetNet page for full details.
Also, join us for two special presentations around Breast Cancer Awareness with the African American Breast Cancer Alliance for breast cancer survivor stories:
Friday, Oct. 15, 11:00 a.m. to noon
Tuesday, Oct. 26, 11:00 a.m. to noon
