Submit proof of vaccination now to avoid testing

Beginning Oct. 11, in order to report to work onsite, Met Council employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or get weekly COVID-19 tests and test negative.

For more information on the vaccine and testing requirement:

Submit your proof of vaccination now

Employees who are vaccinated must submit documentation to Human Resources to verify vaccination status. The form for submitting proof of vaccination is available in Employee Self Service (ESS).

In order to be exempt from weekly testing when it begins on Oct. 11, proof of vaccination must be submitted and verified by Oct. 4. After this deadline, you may submit proof of vaccination at any time, but you may still be subject to weekly testing until your vaccination status is reviewed and verified by Human Resources.

For assistance submitting your proof of vaccination:

Provide proof of vaccination and get $150

Council members approved a vaccination incentive that will provide a $150 lump sum, cash incentive for every employee who has been fully vaccinated and submits their proof of vaccination through ESS. Proof of vaccination must be submitted and verified by Nov. 26, and the one-time, taxable payment will be included on the Dec. 10 paycheck.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month

To mark National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we are highlighting initiatives the Met Council has undertaken to begin to support a more inclusive work environment. It’s vitally important for us to navigate the future of our organization and our workplace with a focus on inclusivity, accessibility, and equity.

Some of the initiatives underway:

  • The Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) and Human Resources have designed a pilot Ability Internship program that will begin next summer.
  • OEO is compiling a set of resources to help Met Council employees shape a more inclusive work environment for all staff, regardless of abilities.
  • The Met Council has initiated a disability Employee Resource Group (ERG) that will work to support staff who identify as having a disability in connecting with each other and supporting resource-sharing for Met Council staff. This will help us tap into lived experiences that are different from our own. For more information or to request to join this ERG, email Sarah Berres, Metro Transit equity and inclusion specialist, at Sarah.Berres@metrotransit.org.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month provides us with an opportunity to reflect on how we can be more inclusive and welcoming for those with various disabilities, whether they identify with having a disability or not. We can shift our thinking towards skills and abilities and away from dis-ability.

The Met Council recognizes that our work is only as informative, relevant, and meaningful as the demographics of our workers allow for, and we all benefit from those with lived experiences different from our own. For a breakdown of how current Met Council staff with disabilities reflects against regional workforce data, please review the Affirmative Action Plan Overview Dashboard

As a reminder, the Met Council encourages those who identify as having a disability to share that using the Employee Self Service form listed under the personal information section.

Take it outside! Week 4 tips

Make it a lifelong habit!

This last week’s focus is all about making your outdoor exercise habit stick so you can continue to “take it outside” long after the campaign ends.

Continue to pay close attention to the way your mood improves quickly after being active outdoors.

James Clear’s Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones breaks down how to make any habit stick. There are four stages in habit formation, and all four are needed:

  1. Cue (prompt, trigger) – make it obvious
  2. Craving (desire, motivation) – make it attractive
  3. Response (action or thought, habit, skill) – make it easy
  4. Reward (dopamine, delight) – make it satisfying
