New funding category supports innovative transportation projects

Unique Projects is a new funding category that supports innovative transportation projects that reduce adverse environmental impacts, improve racial equity, and support multimodal communities.

Applicants must either be a government entity, or partner with a government entity to apply.

Applicants have the option to first submit a project interest form. Staff will review the project interest materials and consult with the applicant, including guidance on government partnerships. After the consultation, applicants who choose to continue will complete the full application.

The Regional Solicitation is a competitive grant process that the Transportation Advisory Board and Met Council use to prioritize and invest federal transportation funds.

The Unique Projects category is primarily focused on projects that would not otherwise be eligible in other funding categories. Eligible candidates can apply in the Unique Projects category if they believe the project is truly unique and would receive a positive evaluation based on the category criteria.

The Transportation Advisory Board reserves the right to disqualify projects that it does not believe fit the intent of Unique Projects. All projects must be eligible for federal funding under the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program or Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Program.
