We asked Liz Hendren, Assistant Transportation Manager at East Metro garage, about her recent completion of the Supervisor Certificate classes. She stated the classes “made me feel re-energized” and shared her overall learning experience.
“The classes in the Supervision Certificate were very beneficial to me and they helped me develop as a supervisor. We learned some foundational concepts for improving communication and strengthening relationships with others. I developed important skills to address issues with performance and giving corrective and positive feedback. I strongly recommend these classes to anyone whether you are new in a supervisory role or a seasoned supervisor or manager. There’s something there for everyone.”
If you are a supervisor or manager with direct reports, enroll now! Take individual classes of interest or pursue the Supervision Certificate. For details, view the Supervision flyer (PDF) on MetNet.

Flu shot clinics scheduled for September
Getting your seasonal flu shot will be especially important this fall during the COVID-19 pandemic. This year we’re offering flu shot clinics at many Met Council sites in September. Review the flu shot schedule and mark your calendars (PDF). Onsite employees do not need to schedule an appointment; simply stop by during the scheduled time to get your flu shot.
Wearing a mask is required at these flu shot clinics and will be provided if you don’t have one.
Employees who are teleworking should not drive to a site for these flu shot clinics. Instead, employees not working onsite can schedule a flu shot appointment at either of the Well@Work clinics, or through their regular clinic or convenience clinics, where flu shots are free to anyone enrolled in a medical plan.

Human Resources and the Office of Equal Opportunity have partnered to bring the Ability Internship Program to the Met Council in the summer of 2022. This is a 12-week pilot internship program designed to increase the Met Council's internship opportunities for people with disabilities.
The program will help create a connection with talent around our region and expand the Met Council's employment opportunities for people with disabilities who have a skill set that aligns with agency requirements. The pilot program will provide access to inclusive internship positions that will provide support to management as well as unique, individualized opportunities for interns to gain marketable and transferable skills.
If you have any questions about the program, please contact Luis Martinez, Human Resources, or Guthrie Byard, Office of Equal Opportunity.
