Do you have enough life insurance? How much is enough?
These are tough questions the Benefits unit will be presenting, in partnership with MN Life/Securian, to provide expert information on life insurance in general, what the Met Council offers, and how to determine what you need.
This will also kick off a special enrollment period the Met Council is offering, allowing employees to increase the amount of supplemental life insurance they elected. This special enrollment period will allow employees to increase their supplemental life insurance up to $40,000 with no Evidence of Insurability. If you elect to increase more than $40,000, it will require an Evidence of Insurability.
Wednesday, July 14 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Microsoft Teams
Mark your calendars to learn more about this important benefit. An Outlook calendar invite to the Teams session will be sent in early July. If you can't attend, the presentation will be recorded and posted on the HR Benefits page on MetNet.
Managing Emotion is a 30-day, interactive program that supports participants in investigating difficult emotions, such as fear, grief, anger, and shame and how to navigate life during times of stress. Participants will gain both practical tools and a better understanding of themselves and others to support their daily lives.
The program consists of four weekly, live sessions plus daily access to the coaches, Susan Shehata and Colleen Buckman, for questions and accountability through Mighty Networks, a group platform for engagement. The sessions will be held on Tuesdays, July 13 through August 3, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Starting July 1 probationary performance reviews will be completed electronically through the Perform system. Fit For Life is pleased to bring new mindfulness sessions to our staff with LaDonna Funderburke of Breathe Deep Within.
Drop in for any or all of the sessions:
In each one-hour session, staff will go through the three stages of meditation:
-
Participants will listen and locate the breath in the body to notice and become aware of their full or shallow breathing pattern.
-
Practice simple and easy-to-remember breathing techniques to manage stress and anxiety.
-
Relax and go on a journey inward with mindfulness/meditation and sound therapy using Tibetan and crystal singing bowls.

If you are putting off holding an important conversation because you’re dreading it or not sure of the best way to go about it, Crucial Conversations is the class for you.
Supervisors and managers will develop skills to prepare for and hold conversations when there is a lot at stake, commitments aren’t met, and/or there are strong opposing opinions. When you have honesty and transparency in conversations you achieve higher levels of performance and overall leadership effectiveness, not to mention improved relationships.
This virtual, instructor-led class will be held Nov. 3 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.
