Recording available from Ask HR session

Syman

We were pleased that over 200 Council employees participated in Monday's Ask HR Webex session on Human Resources activities in support of diversity, equity, and inclusion. It shows interest and support for these efforts, and we are grateful to all our employees who are engaging in this work.

Progress gives us hope, but we know there is still much to be done. Thoughts, ideas, and participation from Council staff continue to be an important factor in developing and implementing effective strategies that truly make a difference.

If you missed the session, you’ll find the recording on HR's MetNet site under Building Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion page.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Deadline for earning $40 for HealthPartners health assessment is Monday!

In addition to the annual health assessment, HealthPartners is now offering additional health programming. The online assessment poses general questions about nutrition, exercise, emotional health, life satisfaction, and sleep. This is a great opportunity to check in with yourself and receive specific HealthPartners program recommendations based on your results like Wellbeats on-demand fitness classes (with newly added guided cardio channel) and other health habit tracking programs.

The health assessment and HealthPartners programming are available for employees who have HealthPartners medical or dental coverage through the Met Council. A $40 gift card (subject to tax) will be provided to those who complete their assessment before May 31. The HealthPartners health programming is available till the end of the year, and you don’t need to take the health assessment to participate in the other programs.

To complete the assessment and access HealthPartners programs, visit healthpartners.com/wellbeing and log in with your HealthPartners account.

Responses to the assessment are confidential and are only shared back with the Met Council as combined data for the organization. Individual responses are HIPAA protected and will never affect your health insurance rates. (Read the full notice on confidentiality for HealthPartners programs.)

Trade Time for Fitness deadline June 1

Trade Time for Fitness is a health and wellness program that allows you to trade in your annual leave hours to receive up to $2,000 (gross) per payroll year in reimbursements for eligible health- and wellness-related expenses, and now includes eligible home office furniture.

This temporary exception to include home office furniture will be in effect until official notice is given – likely through the COVID-19 pandemic while some employees must work from home.

Eligible purchases are limited to home office furniture items. Examples include:

  • Office desks
  • Sit/stand desks
  • Office chairs
  • Task/desk lighting

Computer equipment, keyboards, monitors, docking stations, mouse pads, and similar Council-provided items are not eligible for reimbursement. These items are brought home from work offices and requested through the ITR process with Information Services.

To learn more about the program, review FAQs, and access the online claim form, visit the Trade Time for Fitness MetNet site.

If you are unable to access the Trade Time for Fitness MetNet page, or would like to verify eligibility of an item, please contact FitForLife@metc.state.mn.us.

Asking for support is a strength, not a weakness

Living with a mental health issue can feel lonely and often paralyzing. While you are not alone in living with a mental health struggle, your situation is not the same as everyone else’s and that is why reaching out for help looks different for every person. Visit

MakeItOK.org to learn how to reach out and access help and resources that best fit your life.

The way each of us is comfortable asking for help also differs. Some of us prefer calling, while others prefer to text or visit a website. Whatever your preference, if you or a loved one is considering suicide or facing any mental health challenge, know that 24/7 confidential help is always here.

Knowing what to do when you or someone you care about is struggling can be difficult. For some guidance, examples, and information, TED Talks has a playlist of talks for when you (or a loved one) need help recovering from an emotional hit.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, please keep this information on hand for yourself, and share it with loved ones. Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.
