At a recent Ask HR session, two groups were formed to provide feedback to the recruitment and selection process. Read on for an update on each group.
Recruitment and Selection Advisory Group:
The Recruitment and Selection Advisory Group is comprised of management representatives from the five divisions and equity change team members. The group has been meeting monthly to discuss and share thoughts and ideas on various topics about the recruitment and selection process.
- Reviewing and providing updated language changes about their division/work unit for job announcements. These changes will be implemented April 1 on all new job postings.
- Defining, creating, and then implementing a panel member pool. The goal is to increase the diversity of interview panel members. More information will be coming about panel member pools.
Recruitment and Selection Focus Group:
In February, Talent Management staff conducted interviews with the hiring manager, internal candidates not selected, and candidates that were hired regarding five recruitment efforts (one per division) that took place in 2020 as part of a Recruitment and Selection Focus Group. The interviews provided feedback that were categorized in the following two areas:
Activities to continue:
- Conducting informational open houses for open positions
- Providing interview panel names and titles
- Offering career advising
Action items:
- Use non-managers for structured interviews
- Use a pool of diverse panel members to select from for interview panels
- Create electronic requisition request and business case forms
