The Separation of Employment procedure (4-1j) has been revised to clearly identify the responsibility that supervisors and managers have for notifying Human Resources that an employee is leaving service. Upon receiving an employee’s resignation notice, supervisors/managers are required to complete the Leaving Service form within two days of notice of resignation or dismissal, followed by the Network Access form.
It is important that the Leaving Service form is completed and submitted to Human Resources (with or without the employee’s signature) so Human Resources can account for the change in employment. This form is used to transact the termination or retirement in PeopleSoft, the Met Council’s system of record, which then updates a variety of our other employee systems.
It is just as important to submit the Network Access form to the Service Desk in order to terminate the employee’s user account and therefore access to Met Council networks and systems. If this step is missed, it leaves the Met Council network vulnerable and places us out of compliance from an audit standpoint.
Many of us are using the current COVID-19 pandemic and George Floyd’s murder as an opportunity for self-reflection, exploration, and deep questioning. Everyone has a different path in life, and often it’s helpful to have a framework to follow as you work to discover your own personal purpose.
In this four-part series, participants will explore questions such as, who am I? Where do I belong? When do I feel fulfilled? How do I figure all this out? Finding a life purpose helps one to feel drive, satisfaction, harmony, and connection.
The sessions will meet online on Thursdays, July 16 through August 6, from noon to 1:00 p.m. Contact FitForLife@metc.state.mn.us for the registration link. Space is limited to 15 participants.

Last week Environmental Services, Human Resources, and Office of Equal Opportunity managers and staff presented a webinar to the Environmental Protection Agency and branches across the country to highlight the collaboration and results of Environmental Services outreach and workforce programs: Using Equality and Equity to Drive Sustainable Performance. We were honored to be invited to present on the Council’s outreach and ongoing efforts to increase diversity in our applicant pools and hires within Environmental Services.
This was a great example of how being intentional, collaborating across departments, and connecting with the community can impact hiring outcomes and ultimately contribute to equitable outcomes for our region.
