Mental health looks different for every person. Even the same diagnoses vary in severity and behavior. Thankfully, the focus on mental health awareness in the past few years has helped to demystify and take away the negative connotation a mental health diagnosis once held. However, there is still a lot of work to be done to take away the stigma surrounding mental health. While anxiety and depression have become mainstream terms, there is an entire spectrum of mental health issues that you, your co-workers, or someone you love deal with on a daily basis.
In honor of mental health awareness month, take some time to familiarize yourself with the many faces of mental health. Obsessive compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and many more make up the broad array of diagnoses. Get started by checking out the TED Ed lessons on mental health or explore ideas on how to talk about mental health at Make It Ok.
One way to check in on yourself is to take a mental health screening at mhascreening.org. It’s a quick, free, and private way for someone to assess their mental health and recognize signs of mental health problems.
Look for weekly articles from Fit For Life on various topics as we celebrate Mental Health Awareness month.
Do you have an illness such as sinus problems, a rash, allergies or pink eye and wish to see a physician but don’t want to risk going into a clinic? HealthPartners virtuwell clinic is an online clinic that provides diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions. Get the convenience of 24/7 online access to care. The first three visits to virtuwell, per person, per calendar year, are covered at 100% for each person on any Council medical plan. The system will ask for credit card information at the beginning of your online visit but will not charge you anything if it’s your first three visits of the year. Even if you don’t have insurance, a visit to virtuwell is only $49. If you think you may have COVID-19, you may use the virtuwell symptom checker and Minnesota residents can schedule drive-up testing, which is fully covered during this pandemic period. Visit www.virtuwell.com for more information or to start a visit.
And remember, all visits are free for those covered on a Council medical plan when you use one of the Council’s HealthPartners Well@Work clinics. HealthPartners will prescreen patients telephonically prior to their appointment. When possible, patients will be converted to a phone visit for care. If a patient’s care needs are not appropriate for a phone visit the patient will be assessed for an onsite visit.
If you’d like to make an appointment, don’t hesitate to call. Your clinic is ready to help.
St. Paul Well@Work clinic (375 Jackson) 952.967.5474; Minneapolis Well@Work clinic (Heywood office building): 952.967.7468.
If you think you have COVID-19, do not use the Well@Work clinic. The HealthParnters Well@Work clinics do not have testing equipment and will not be able to test for the disease.
