2019 accomplishments and milestones

This year, the Gold Line BRT project reached several major milestones to advance design, engineering, environmental work and community engagement. Gold Line’s 2019 accomplishments and milestones include:

  • Connected with more than 2,000 community members in-person through individual meetings, group presentations, events, information tables and open houses, as well as additional connections through online engagement
    • Collected feedback from more than 600 people on Gold Line station design elements to help project staff develop station designs that best reflect community values and characteristics
  • Completed the environmental assessment report, an analysis required by the state and federal governments that describes the transportation, social and environmental benefits and impacts associated with the construction and operation of Gold Line BRT
    • Received 35 comments on the environmental assessment report during the public comment period; the comments, along with the environmental analysis, will be used to decide how the project will impact the region it serves
  • Advanced project design and engineering plans

What to expect in 2020

The Gold Line project will continue design, engineering and engagement work next year. Activities you can expect in 2020 include:

  • Ongoing community engagement throughout the Gold Line corridor including collecting additional feedback on station shelter design concepts
  • Announcing the new Gold Line Community and Business Advisory Committee members who will provide guidance on project design, engineering and construction
  • Releasing the environmental decision document, which will determine the next steps in the environmental review process
  • Continuing design and engineering work so the Gold Line project remains on schedule to begin construction in 2022 and operation in 2024

KSTP published a story at the end of November highlighting how Gold Line will serve the east metro and how the project will connect with the other existing and planned transit lines in the METRO system.
