The number of MSP Airport Signers using the online badge application process continues to increase, and the system is providing time-saving efficiencies to everyone involved.
The chart below shows how things are operating now versus 2019, before the online system was rolled out in the summer of 2021.
The Badging Office is operating more efficiently with the online system, handling more transactions even with a smaller number of employees compared to 2019.
We appreciate your continued usage of the online application forms and encourage you to spread the word to any Signers who haven’t tried the system yet.
The Badging Office has been seeing an increasing number of instances where a current or former airport employee’s home address is out-of-date in the security badge system.
For current MSP Airport employees, the change-of-address issue sometimes pops up when they are renewing their badge, or being cited for a particular violation, and end up with an additional citation for having an out-of-date address on their security badge.
When the TSA or Badging Office has questions for a new badge applicant, the communication is sent by either US Mail or via email; it’s important that both of those addresses are accurate and current.
For airport employees who no longer need a badge, the Badging Office mails out courtesy envelopes so the individual can return their badge in a timely fashion and avoid fines.
Please ask your employees to notify you and the Badging Office of any address change. Having the current addresses of airport employees is a TSA regulation and is also required by an ordinance from the Metropolitan Airports Commission.

Whenever an employee leaves their MSP Airport job - whether it’s a termination, resignation or retirement – it’s important that the employer collect that employee’s badge and return it to the MSP Badging Office.
We’ve seen instances of companies failing to report terminations, and expired badges that haven’t been turned in for extended periods of time.
Once you know of an individual who is ending their airport employment, collect their security badge and report the change in status to the Badging Office within 24 hours.
We appreciate your attention to this issue.
