The Badging Office at MSP Airport is moving down a few levels but moving up in terms of available space and room to grow. In late June, the Badging Office is scheduled to move from Level 5 to Level 3.
This new, more modern Badging Office, still located in the building between the Red and Blue ramps at Terminal 1, places all badging functions on one level. The space offers increased capacity for serving employees receiving a badge and has room to grow as the airport grows in the future. The training room is located on the same level, near the lobby waiting area and the service counter.
Administrators for the Airport Police Department's Aviation Security Division will be moving to the new office space, as well.
Watch for the June edition of the Signer Bulletin for a specific move date. Signs notifying visitors of the move will also be displayed near the elevators and the current Level 5 location.
The number of Signers using the online badge application system continues to increase, and we appreciate your enthusiasm for the new technology.
One thing that hasn’t changed, though, is the need for applications to be filled out completely. If Signers leave off an employee’s middle name, or apartment number, or their passport number, the Badging Office cannot process the application. We will have to reach back out to the Signer or employee to track down the missing information, which extends the approval process.
Every detail on the application form is important. Please be sure the forms are filled out with all the required information before submitting it to the Badging Office.

MSP Airport badge holders are required to challenge anyone not displaying proper ID within the SIDA/AOA areas and, if they cannot produce proper ID, to immediately notify the Airport Police.
The Security Identification Display area (SIDA) and Air Operations Area (AOA) at MSP encompasses the ramp and outdoor areas where aircraft are serviced, including roadways near and under the terminals used by airline tugs to transport luggage.
Airport Police will be testing individuals frequently. Please inform your employees that police enforcement of the "failure-to-challenge" will increase.
Failing to challenge could result in loss of escort privileges, SIDA re-training, citations, and/or badge suspensions/revocations. Those working in the “sterile” area of the airport (inside the concourses, stores/restaurants, etc.) are not required to display their ID. Badge holders with blue (non-AOA badges) do not have access to the SIDA/AOA areas where display of badges is required.
MAC Airport Security Ordinance 117 states the following:
Authorized persons must challenge or report persons not displaying an appropriate identification badge (MAC Security Badge) inside the SIDA/AOA security areas. “Challenge” means to (a) ask the persons to show their MAC Security Badge or (b) to immediately notify the Airport Police Department with a description of the persons not displaying a MAC Security Badge (if not under escort).
