Long-term planning for the future of MSP Airport is back on track following a two-year pause triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The second of four "Experience MSP" open house events will be held virtually April 12 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The MAC held its first Experience MSP open house in the fall of 2019 to kick off public outreach to develop the MSP Airport 2040 Long-Term Plan, which will forecast facility and infrastructure needs based on projected passenger and operations numbers. The plan was expected to be completed by early 2021.
But the pandemic paused that process in 2020 and 2021. The pandemic also altered some of the early growth projections for travel at MSP.
To bring MSP's stakeholders up to speed, the MAC has created and posted the following pre-recorded presentations on the Experience MSP website:
- Introduction and Welcome
- MSP Long-Term Plan Update
- Existing Landside Facilities
- Updated Aircraft Activity Forecasts
- Airfield Capacity Study Update
People are encouraged to view the presentations in advance of the April 12 meeting and to submit questions if they have any.
