With the holiday season upon us, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is expecting an increase in passenger numbers as more people seek to to reunite with family and friends in the last days of 2021.
If you’re planning a trip through MSP this season, take note of these tips to help keep your visit efficient and safe.
Parking
MSP is offering discounted prebooked holiday parking rates at Terminal 1. Travelers can save $7 per day by pre-booking online and parking between December 21 and Jan. 2. Find more details in the newsletter item below.
Pick-ups and drop-offs
When you’re driving into MSP's Terminal 1, remember that you can go up or down when you’re dropping off or picking someone up.
- When dropping off during a busy time of the day, consider using the arrivals level. Similarly, you can use the departures level when picking someone up.
- If you need a place to wait when picking up a passenger, consider parking at the cell phone lot on Post Road, located just off of Hwy. 5. The drive to either terminal is typically five minutes or less. When your passenger lands and is ready for you to pick them up, have them text or call you with the door number at either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 where they will be waiting.
- You can also park in one of the ramps if that is more convenient for either picking up or dropping off. Hourly rates for Terminal 1 can be found here. Hourly rates for Terminal 2 can be found here.

If you’re flying out of MSP Airport soon, you may be thinking about how to minimize touchpoints along the way. Prebooked Parking is a great way to use your own vehicle and ensure a contact-free commute to the airport.
When you prebook your parking, you’re guaranteed a place to park in your parking ramp of choice.
As part of your confirmation, a unique QR code will be provided and is all you need to enter and exit the ramp. To make it even more convenient, you can now also save your QR code directly to your mobile wallet.
Even better, parkers at Terminal 1 will enjoy a $7 per day discount compared with the drive-up rate when they book online and park at MSP between December 21 and January 2.

As you trim the tree and wrap packages, you may find your mind drifting to other winter-time activities -- namely, a flight to warmer weather.
The winter air travel season is upon us, and this is a popular time for Upper Midwest residents to start booking trips.
MSP Airport continues to solicit input from prospective travelers via a survey that gauges attitudes about and interest in air travel. The answers help shape the MSP travel experience as the COVID-19 era becomes more manageable.
Even if you’ve already taken the survey, please consider taking it again, as your thoughts and answers may have changed over time.
Survey takers have shown interest in MSP's safety initiatives, such as the increased presence of hand sanitizer dispensers, the face mask requirement and the airport’s efforts to increase physical distancing. All of those efforts are part of the airport's Travel Confidently program.
We appreciate your continued interest in helping us make air travel as safe and comfortable as possible.
