The MAC will be participating in the event with an interactive booth featuring a prize wheel and paint-the-plow activity where attendees can contribute to a mural on one of the airport's snowplow blades.
Global Girls in Aviation Day was created by Women in Aviation International (WAI) to help introduce girls to the aviation lifestyle as well as the diverse career opportunities available to them in the aviation community. Approximately half of WAI's chapters have unique, local events planned for September 25 that offer girls an opportunity to learn more about the profession.
Scott Skramstad, a 20-year employee of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, was recently selected to direct terminal and landside operations at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP).
Most recently, he served as assistant director of MSP facilities, overseeing terminal cleaning and maintenance, the airport’s energy management center, and work by skilled tradespeople – carpenters, electricians, painters and plumbers.
Those efforts helped MSP achieve the status of Best Airport in North America for four consecutive years, through a customer survey program administered by Airports Council International.

The Air Transport Research Society (ATRS) has once again named Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) the most efficient North American airport in its class.
MSP is one of only 12 airports globally, and one of four in North America, to receive the award this year. It marks the fourth time in five years that ATRS has named MSP the most efficient North America airport serving between 24 and 40 million passengers.
The annual Airport Benchmarking Awards Program recognizes efficiency in productivity and operations, unit-cost competitiveness and comparisons of airport charges. The ATRS Global Airport Benchmarking Project’s 2021 report analyzed 2019 financial data from 205 airports and 24 airport groups of various sizes and ownership forms in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Australia/New Zealand.

The Airport Foundation MSP and the Metropolitan Airports Commission invite emerging, mid-career and established artists or artist teams residing in the United States to apply to join the Public Roster of Artists for Commissioned Arts.
“Commissioned artwork at MSP provides opportunities for the airport, artists and community to transform ordinary spaces into dynamic, meaningful places,” said Ben Owen, director of Arts@MSP, a program of the Airport Foundation MSP and the MAC. “The Public Roster of Artists for Commissioned Arts provides an essential method for selecting artists expeditiously to develop temporary, permanent, free-standing or site-integrated artwork of various complexities, forms, and sizes, indoors and outdoors, at MSP Terminals 1 and 2.”
The Arts@MSP program encourages diversity in its collection, said Owen. “The Selection Panel will consider artistic diversity as a key factor in the selection process.”
To be eligible to apply, applicants must be practicing professional artists or artist teams residing in the United States. Regional talent is preferred.

Summer is reaching its conclusion, but the appetite for air travel remains and we want to know what you're thinking as we move toward autumn.
MSP Airport is soliciting input from would-be travelers via a survey that gauges attitudes about and interest in air travel. The answers help shape the MSP travel experience as the COVID-19 era begins to wane.
Even if you’ve already taken the survey, please feel free to take it again, as your thoughts and answers may have changed over time.
Survey takers have shown interest in MSP's safety initiatives, such as the increased presence of hand sanitizer dispensers, the face mask requirement and the airport’s efforts to increase physical distancing. All of those efforts are part of the airport's Travel Confidently program.
Thank you for your continued interest in helping us make air travel as safe and comfortable as possible.
