Several of the Metropolitan Airports Commission’s (MAC) Reliever Airport events are back this summer after most of them were cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The fun starts with Father's Day fly-ins and pancake breakfasts June 20th at the MAC’s Crystal and Lake Elmo airports.
These popular community events are perfect opportunities for the airports’ neighbors to learn more about them and connect to the MAC and the airport tenants and users.

Passengers are returning to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and on-site businesses are hiring to meet the growing demand for a wide array of services.
Join Us at a Job Fair
MSP Airport is participating in an upcoming virtual job fair, partnering with Hennepin County and CareerForce. Fire up your computer or mobile device, get online and find out which jobs are a good match for you.
Virtual Hiring Event: Wednesday, June 16 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- This event will feature 20 different MSP Airport employers and a wide variety of opportunities.
- Each employer will highlight information about their organization, job openings, interview questions and more.
- You will be able to chat with each employer to get your questions answered. Some employers may also offer virtual meetings or interviews.
For more information about this and other Job Fair opportunities, visit the Employment & Volunteering page of the airport website. There are also videos available from past events.
Also, the MSP Airport Job Board is adding positions at a steady clip. If you or someone you know is looking for a well-paying position with benefits, you’re encouraged to visit and return to this site often for job openings, descriptions, and links to employer hiring sites.
Airlines, retailers, restaurants, cleaning companies and rental car firms are among the businesses looking for people to fill these roles. Jobs include passenger service agents, ramp agents, sales, cooks, bartenders, baristas, part-time drivers and automotive detailers.

The airports operated by the Metropolitan Airports Commission are continuing to experience improving conditions that include rising numbers of passengers, departing flights and demand for parking.
At a committee meeting of the MAC's board earlier this month, Chad Leqve, the MAC's vice president of management and operations, provided details about the rebound at both MSP and the six Reliever Airports.
Listen to the audio of Leqve's 12-minute presentation and see the accompanying slideshow.

Bicyclists can now travel directly to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport's Terminal 1, thanks to the completion last year of the Silver Ramp.
A direct bike route to MSP is available now that Northwest Drive – which parallels Hwy. 5 – was extended past the InterContinental Hotel MSP Airport to the Silver Ramp.
This route also services buses and off-airport parking shuttles that pick up and drop off travelers at the new Transit Center in the Silver Ramp. All rental car services at Terminal 1 are in the Silver Ramp, which is located just above the light rail stop.
On the ground level of the Transit Center are several new covered bike racks. A Dero Fixit | Public Bike Repair Station is also available nearby.
This updated bike map provides the bike routes to both Terminals 1 and 2. Bicyclists coming from the west must take 34th Avenue and Post Road. Bikers from the east and south will need to travel on bike paths through the wonders of Fort Snelling State Park and the Minnesota River valley.
And, if the weather isn't cooperating, bicyclists can always bring their bikes on to light rail trains and buses to get to the airport.

The accolades keep coming for the Silver Ramp at MSP Airport's Terminal 1. Finance and Commerce newspaper recently named the ramp one of its "Top Projects" of 2020 from nearly 100 submissions.
That recognition follows an earlier award this year from the American Council of Engineering Consultants of Minnesota for the 11-story ramp that opened in August 2020.
Construction of the $443 million ramp began in 2017 and posed significant engineering challenges because the site is hemmed in by structures on all sides and sits atop the light rail line station with restricted air space above it.
Those challenges caught the attention of Airport Improvement Magazine, which devoted a lengthy feature about the project in its May/June 2021 issue.
Aesthetics were also a top concern for the design team. The ramp’s exterior features thousands of kiln-fired terracotta “baguettes.” The use of colored terracotta provides a shimmering yet refined appearance. And because they’re terracotta with a fiberglass core, the baguettes don’t interfere with navigation equipment used at MSP.
"If you ever go across the Mendota Heights bridge and look to the airport, it is absolutely just a beautiful structure – it's gorgeous inside and out," said MAC Commissioner Randy Schubring.
Summer officially arrives this weekend. How exciting is that?
Airline bookings indicate that people are indeed making summer travel a priority again, and we want to hear about your plans.
MSP Airport continues to solicit input from would-be travelers via a survey that gauges attitudes toward air travel. The answers help shape the MSP travel experience in the COVID-19 era and beyond.
Even if you’ve already taken the survey, please feel free to take it again, as people's thoughts and answers change over time.
Our surveys indicate that residents of the Upper Midwest are increasingly enthusiastic about catching up on their travel opportunities.
Our survey-takers continue to be most interested in MSP's safety initiatives, such as the increased presence of hand sanitizer dispensers, the face mask requirement and the airport’s efforts to increase physical distancing. All of those efforts are part of the airport's Travel Confidently program.
Thank you for your continued interest in helping us make air travel as safe and comfortable as possible.
