The CDC recently released updated travel guidelines, noting that people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can resume domestic travel at a low risk to their health.
Travelers are still urged to be cautious and continue to use the safety protocols in place at airports and in cities across the country.
At MSP Airport, anyone visiting the airport must wear a wear face mask while on the premises.

This summer there will be more options to connect between Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and one of the fastest growing cities in the country.
On June 6, Southwest Airlines will begin new year-round service between MSP and Austin, Texas.
In 2019, Austin was MSP’s 28th largest domestic destination, averaging 329 daily passengers, or just over 120,000 for the year. Austin is also one of MSP’s fastest growing markets, with passenger traffic increasing 64 percent since 2016. Wandertest, a biomedical rapid testing company, recently began offering rapid COVID-19 tests inside the secure area of Terminal 1 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP).
Wandertest’s service helps travelers fulfill international and domestic destinations’ requirements for a COVID-19 test. Results are available in 30 minutes or less and are sent to the traveler by text and/or email.
Travelers must have a boarding pass and go through security screening at Terminal 1 to use the testing service. The tests are also available to travelers returning to MSP or catching a connecting flight at the airport.
The testing site offers both antigen testing and molecular NAAT testing. Travelers are encouraged to make an appointment online, but walk-ins are welcome.
The testing site is near the entrance to Concourse F. Details about hours, pricing and appointments can be found on the Wandertest website.
Also, the state of Minnesota’s COVID-19 testing site at MSP Airport remains open at a separate location, outside the secure area on Level 2 of the Blue parking ramp at Terminal 1. This site provides free COVID-19 saliva tests for Minnesota residents, and results are delivered electronically within 24-48 hours. A boarding pass is not required to access that testing location.
An appointment for the saliva test is encouraged, which can be made at this website.

MSP ASAP, the mobile food ordering and delivery service at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), is on a roll thanks to a new ambassador that barely sees eye-to-eye with most kids and doesn’t speak a word.
In partnership with AtYourGate, MSP ASAP has released a rolling droid, called a gita (jee-tah), as part of a pilot program that enhances contactless food ordering capabilities in Terminal 1.

In April, when we celebrate Earth Day, and throughout the year, the presence of public recycling receptacles at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is a visible indication of the airport’s commitment to keeping plastic, paper and cardboard out of the waste stream.
Behind the scenes, however, large amounts of other materials are also channeled into recycling alternatives. The products result from everyday activities at the airport, including cooking, painting and construction. In the calendar year of 2020, MSP recycled:
- 16.4 tons of used automotive oil
- 1.6 tons of used oil filters
- 144 tons of pallets
- 1.9 tons of latex paint
- 5.47 tons of fluorescent and HID (high-intensity discharge) lamps
- 10.27 tons of tires
- 19 tons of e-waste (including computers, monitors, printers, cell phones and other similar items)
- 39 tons of used cooking oil
- 77.8 tons scrap metal
MSP appreciates when travelers recycle their paper and aluminum products while traveling through the airport. Additional information about the airport’s environmental sustainability efforts is available at this web page and at the Metropolitan Airports Commission's sustainability website.
Getaway options are expanding and we want to know what you're thinking as the summer travel season approaches.
The airport continues to solicit input from would-be travelers via a survey that gauges attitudes toward air travel. The answers help shape the MSP travel experience in the COVID-19 era.
Even if you’ve already taken the survey, please feel free to take it again, as people's thoughts and answers change over time.
Survey results have shown that travelers continue to be most interested in MSP's safety initiatives, such as the increased presence of hand sanitizer dispensers, the face mask requirement and the airport’s efforts to increase physical distancing. All of those efforts are part of the airport's Travel Confidently program.
Thank you for your continued interest in helping us make air travel as safe and comfortable as possible.
