A COVID-19 testing site opened today at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, available to all members of the public.
The site, which utilizes saliva tests and delivers results in 24 to 48 hours, expands the testing options for Minnesotans. The State of Minnesota and the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) partnered to provide the MSP testing site.

The ability to order a meal for pick-up or delivery inside MSP's Terminal 1 became easier recently with the launch of MSP ASAP.
MSP ASAP combines the offerings of Grab and AtYourGate – two app-driven service providers that connect fliers to dining options in a timely fashion. Grab’s technology allows passengers to pick up their pre-ordered items at a restaurant while AtYourGate focuses on delivery within the terminal.
With MSP ASAP, travelers are able to visit one site and order food for either pickup or delivery. You can visit the new website here to experience the contactless ordering and payment technology.
“This expanding partnership and the introduction of touchless ordering and payment technology adds another layer of convenience and safety for travelers at MSP Airport,” said Brian Ryks, the CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), which operates MSP. “We strongly support collaboration and innovation that helps ensure travelers have a great experience at our airport.”
Contactless ordering is another way that passengers can Travel Confidently at MSP – both by reducing touchpoints within the terminal and by minimizing the time spent congregating with other travelers.

Passengers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport’s Terminal 1 will notice a new, dramatic addition to the ticketing lobby the next time they pass through.
Recently, crews hoisted a 29-foot-high glass and metal sculpture that’s now suspended through a new opening between the ticketing and baggage claim levels.
The 740-pound sculpture is a twisting, aerial wave of more than 23,000 aluminum rings that will house more than 2,600 hand-blown glass bulbs, each with a set of LEDs within. The Aurora is the creation of Jen Lewin, an internationally renowned new media and interactive sculptor who has designed and installed permanent interactive public artworks worldwide, including the Sidewalk Harp in downtown Minneapolis.
“The Aurora is one of MSP’s largest art projects and was designed to serve as a symbol of the airport and our region,” said Rick King, Chairman of the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), which operates MSP. “When you consider the tens of millions of people who fly to and from MSP every year, this is likely to become one of the most visible artworks in Minnesota.”

The Skyway Security Checkpoint -- located on the connector bridge between Concourse C and Concourse G -- is now open from 5:30 a.m. to noon, seven days a week.
MSP passengers who have a boarding pass in-hand and have only carry-on bags -- no checked bags -- can use the checkpoint. Reach the checkpoint by taking the tram from Terminal 1 to the Blue and Red parking ramps.
Also new at that location is an automated exit that's open 24/7. The exit offers convenience to travelers arriving on sections of Concourses C and G who want a faster route to Rental Cars, their parked car in Terminal 1's parking ramps, or the Blue Line LRT.
The Armed Forces Service Center (AFSC) at MSP’s Terminal 1 reopened Monday, Nov. 9. During its first phase of reopening, access is limited to active members of the military and Medal of Honor recipients.
The center’s hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. The AFSC had closed earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re excited to welcome back members of the military who are traveling,” said Debra Cain, executive director of the AFSC. “And we appreciate our visitors’ cooperation on new safety measures related to COVID-19.”
Face masks are required at the re-opened AFSC, and temperature checks will be taken at entry. To meet CDC health and safety guideline, the AFSC modified its services and is not providing sleeping bunks or showers.
For updates about AFSC access, please visit the center's Facebook page.
The AFSC is located past security checkpoints, near the entrance to Concourse A, on Level 2. Take the elevator next to Bruegger’s Bagels.
In another sign that normal life is slowly returning to MSP International Airport (MSP), live performances resumed recently at Terminals 1 and 2.
They had been suspended for several months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Classical guitarist Joel Shapira (pictured) and artist Holly Nelson, who performs by drawing pictures while travelers observe, kicked off the performances last week.
"I'm just really excited to bring back a sense of normalcy to MSP," said Youa Vang, the performing arts coordinator for the Arts@MSP program, a partnership between the MAC and the Airport Foundation MSP. "A lot of musicians and artists are on hiatus right now from their regular gigs and are just excited and ready to be sharing their work again."
In the near term, the performances will be on a slimmed-down schedule with most occurring on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. At Terminal 1, performances will be between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., and noon and 3 p.m. At Terminal 2, performances will be between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The lone exception is the Wednesday (Nov. 25) before Thanksgiving – typically one of the busiest travel days of the year – when performances will occur at both terminals. Performances are also planned around the Dec. 25 holiday.
There was a silver lining to the break in live performances. Recent permanent installations of audio systems and signage at the terminals make it easier for performers to "amp up" so they don't have to lug their own sound systems.
Electronic monitors have also been added to the two performance spaces in the Airport Mall in Terminal 1 and at Terminal 2. The monitors allow performers to advertise who they are when they are playing.

Each month, we are asking for your feedback through a quick three-minute survey.
Some travelers have taken to the air again; others are still gauging their comfort level with a flight experience. Wherever you’re at with your travel plans, MSP has been busy putting new strategies in place to keep all airport visitors safe and healthy. That includes airport employees and airline passengers.
We want to know your expectations regarding air travel; both your plans in the near term and down the road. Your input will help guide our next steps. And we're tracking traveler sentiment over time, so if you took the survey earlier, feel free to take it again.
Thank you for your help in making air travel safe and comfortable.
