 The new food court on Concourse F of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is now complete with the recent opening of Chick-fil-A, the popular quick-serve restaurant known for its chicken sandwiches and waffle fries.
The food court provides a bright, sun-filled dining experience for passengers and is located a short walk from the Airport Mall. Chick-fil-A joins the popular restaurants already operating in the food court, including Wendy’s, People’s Organic and Panda Express.
A new feature at the food court is a recycling station (pictured) designed with liquid containers in mind. The station allows diners to drain their cups of liquid in a basin and then recycle those bottles, cups and cans.
Companies that recycle that material use technology that may reject plastic bottles containing liquids. The station helps keep those containers in the recycling stream.
MSP’s recycling stations use the standardized labels that are part of the Recycle Across America program.

On the Airport Mall, passengers will notice a brand new, centrally located Chili’s restaurant. The popular national brand opened a couple of weeks ago and draws crowds with its fajitas and rule-breaking burgers. Chili’s also has a full bar.

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) set a new record in 2018 for the total number of travelers passing through its terminals.
The 2018 total of 38,037,381 passengers narrowly exceeded the 2017 record of 38,034,341 travelers. Total travelers includes those paying for airline tickets as well as non-revenue passengers (those flying free, such as airline employees with flight benefits).
If you consider only revenue passengers – those paying for a ticket – passenger numbers declined slightly in 2018, to 36,778,496, down from 36,799,978 a year earlier.
“We continue to see very strong demand for air service at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport,” said Metropolitan Airports Commission Executive Director and CEO Brian Ryks. “JetBlue filled out the ranks of airlines serving the airport in 2018, and 2019 is off to a great start, with a significant increase in routes to be flown by hometown carrier Sun Country, Aer Lingus launching service to Dublin, Ireland and Delta Air Lines to Mexico City and Seoul, South Korea.”

Customer service comes first at MSP International, and the super heroes who deliver the best experiences for airport guests were honored recently by the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC).
The MAC’s Five-Star Service Awards are given out annually to concessions that scored high in the airport’s “secret shopper” program. The shoppers are from an outside group that the MAC hires to visit shops and restaurants and measure the service they receive.

The stores with the highest scores received the awards at a presentation earlier this week.
MSP’s Merchant of the Year is HMS Host, an operator of numerous concessions at MSP. HMS Host was recognized for continuing to perform at a high-level during a time of major transition, as the airport is in the midst of making over its concession offerings. The HMS Host team worked professionally and provided unwavering support for MSP’s program.
In other categories, the winners were:
The Best Casual Dining Restaurant is Vino Volo. The popular wine bar and restaurant’s top-notch training program and employee expertise in guiding wine selections led to continued high scores from the shoppers.
Angel Food Bakery won the award for the Best Quick Service Restaurant. The bakery’s high product quality, attention to detail and friendly staff helped it secure the top spot.
Angel Food also provided treats (pictured) for the super-hero-themed award presentation.
The Best Specialty Retail Store winner is Hammer Made, known for its top-line shirts and individualized customer service.
Prairie Market won the award for the Best News and Convenience Store. The popular newsstand, located near Gate C4, is fast and friendly, and won in a competitive field of convenience store stand-outs.
The Sustainability Award went to LoLo American Kitchen and Craft Bar, located at the end of Concourse E. Lolo scored high in managing its back-of-house waste stream and its employees have consistently supported the MAC’s efforts to improve waste-stream management.
A new award this year, Best Passenger Service, went to Wings Financial Credit Union. Wings was founded decades ago by seven Northwest Airlines employees, and today has more than 250,000 members. The branch in Terminal 1’s ticketing lobby received high secret shopper scores for its friendly, professional service.
