The Office of the Foster Youth Ombudsperson handles complaints from anyone, prioritizing concerns from young people about their rights, care, safety, and placement in Minnesota foster care, including youth in Extended Foster Care and those who have recently aged out of care.

What Can You Do?

Attend the hearing on 3/25/26, 3:00-5 pm in Children & Families Committee – Room 123. OOFY staff and testifiers will be there. We hope to see you!

Sign onto the for the Foster Youth Bill of Rights.

Write an individual letter of support explaining the impact of the Foster Youth Bill of Rights, urging the Children & Families Committee to pass HF3024/SF3154.
- Email to colie.colburn@house.mn.gov by Wednesday, 3/25 at 8 am.
- What to include:
- Introduce yourself and your role.
- Describe the importance of and impact of the proposed Foster Youth Bill of Rights.
- State your ask of the committee.
- Close with thanking the Chair and committee for their time and consideration.
