Salmonella Outbreak Update
58 more people are sick in the outbreak linked
to Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad, bringing the total reported cases to 79 in 9 states. The pasta salad was sold in all Hy-Vee stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. Hy-Vee quickly and voluntarily removed the product from all grocery shelves. Please check your refrigerator for recalled Hy-Vee Spring
Pasta Salad with expiration dates from June 22 to August 3, 2018. Customers who purchased this product should dispose of it or return it to Hy-Vee for a full refund. You should also wash and sanitize refrigerator drawers
and shelves that held the recalled pasta salad to avoid possible cross
contamination.

Salmonella
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates Salmonella causes about 1.2 million illness every year. Food is the main source of these illnesses. Most people infected will develop diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after coming into contact with the organism. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days, and most people recover without treatment. However, young children, elderly and people with weakened immune systems are more likely to be become seriously ill. Anyone who believes they may have been made sick by eating recalled Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad should contact a healthcare provider.
