Direct Admissions Marketing Toolkit:
Resources for Spring 2026

Welcome to Direct Admissions Minnesota! As the program moves into its fifth year, the Minnesota Office of Higher Education has updated this annual spring Marketing Toolkit Newsletter to assist high school staff to promote the program at your local school and district level. You may use the resources in this Spring 2026 Marketing Toolkit to begin to introduce high school juniors and families to the program.

A Note for New High Schools

A marketing overview and suggestions for promoting Direct Admissions at your high school will be covered at the Logistics and Info-Sharing 101 Training on Tuesday, April 21st.  More information on upcoming trainings is provided at the bottom of this newsletter.  All trainings are recorded, so even if you are unable to make the event live, please RSVP to receive a recording after the event.

Invite Staff to Subscribe to this Newsletter

The first newsletter of the fall program year will be sent in mid-August 2026. We invite you to forward this toolkit to additional school and district staff who may benefit from these resources. Please email the Direct Admissions Coordinator directly to verify your staff additions.

    Direct Admissions Video

Video Resource for High School Juniors

Use the Direct Admissions overview video to begin to familiarize students with the Direct Admissions program and what they can look forward to in the fall. High school staff may link the video in Class of 2026 newsletters, Google Classroom/Schoology (or other learning management system), or post on high school or district social media channels.

Two other great videos that detail the process include the general About Direct Admissions and You Got Your Direct Admissions Letter, Now What?

The High School Marketing Resources’ and Direct Admissions Student Center pages

The High School Marketing Resources webpage has print materials and additional video resources you can order and share with students, families, and the broader high school community.  This is the primary marketing resource for high school staff in sharing info about the program.  Feel free to use the digital flyers or other media, order print materials, or repurpose the videos that are available.  Content is translated into several languages as well.

An additional resource to plug with students is the Direct Admissions Student Center.  This is the number one resource for students and families.  Explore college options, learn more about the program, and find useful tips about the college process.

Reminder: Spring 2026 New High School Trainings

Spring trainings for new high schools to prepare for the implementation of Direct Admissions program follow. Recommended audience team members are indicated in each session description. Each session will end in a Q&A format.

Direct Admissions: Data Sharing Agreements, Joint Powers Agreements, and Invoices [Audience = Head Administrator and Counselor]

This Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE) Direct Admissions MN training focuses on program contracts, funds, and invoicing the agency for participating high schools’ program funding.  Important information will be shared about the basics for data logistics and security, too.  This training is required for the school's designated authority (usually the principal, superintendent, and/or head of school) and recommended for counselors and finance professionals assisting with the transfer of program funds.

Direct Admissions: Marketing the program & logistics 101 [Audience = Counselor and Communications specialist]

This Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE) Direct Admissions MN training focuses on marketing supports for the program. This training shares how to utilize the many marketing tools and supports for the program, including the program’s toolkit; social media and print materials; and more. Information about how to order and employ the marketing materials will be shared.  This training is required for the school's primary program staff personnel (usually the counselor) and recommended for communications professionals assisting with the sharing of information to families and students.

Direct Admissions: Building the data with the SIS and OHE's program tool [Information Technology Specialist and Counselor]

This Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE) Direct Admissions MN training focuses on broad data needs to conduct the program, particularly when utilizing your local student information system (SIS) to gather fields and run the report to conduct the academic review.  We share general information about the program’s data fields, the current state of SIS integration, and agency-specific resources to interface with the program Tool.  This training is required for counselors and technology support professionals assisting with data elements and reporting to run the program.  There will be plenty of time for questions.
