As part of his statewide tour, Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE) Commissioner Dennis Olson made a special visit to the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) on Indigenous Peoples' Day, Oct. 10. The visit allowed Olson to meet with native students and hear their personal stories on how OHE's financial aid programs are serving them and have conversations on important topics and issues that they face.

“It was incredibly important for me to hear that our financial aid programs are working and serving the students that they are intended," said Olson, who referenced two students who are benefitting from the new Fostering Independence grant program and the Minnesota Indian Teacher training program.
The UMD visit was a stop on the commissioner’s statewide tour to learn about the current state of higher education. Click here to watch FOX21 news coverage.
