Governor Allocates Funding to Summer Academic Enrichment Program

The Governor has set aside $625,000 from the state’s federal COVID relief funds for the Office of Higher Education’s (OHE) Summer Academic Enrichment Program. The program provides stipends to cover all or a portion of the direct cost for students in grades 3-11 to attend eligible summer academic enrichment programs in summer 2021.

Stipends are available for Minnesota residents who are eligible for free or reduced priced lunch. Students apply directly with the eligible programs and the stipend will be processed and administered by the program. Check out the list of eligible programs. The stipend will cover the cost of the summer program up to a maximum amount of $1,000 and students may only receive one stipend per summer.

This report includes projected spending for the Minnesota State Grant program for the 2020-2021 biennium and the 2022-2023 biennium. The Minnesota State Grant is financial aid provided by the state to help students from low- and moderate-income families pay for educational expenses at eligible Minnesota colleges or universities. These projections for the State Grant are the result of a full simulation of the State Grant model, which uses fiscal year 2020 actual spending data and award parameters.
