Health Care Savings Plan reminders

HCSP is a tax-free account
Employers do not pay FICA taxes on amounts contributed. Employers are not required to report contributions on a W-2.

HCSP video available
Help your employees understand their HCSP benefits.

  • Forward the video link to your employees
  • Post the link on your internal website
  • Show the video at new employee orientations

Add employee's termination date
The termination date triggers an HCSP welcome packet to be sent to the employee. Without a termination date, a reimbursement request may be delayed.

Contract pre-approval required
Only employees who belong to a group pre-approved by MSRS may participate in the plan. Do not remit contributions for a group until MSRS approves the contract language.

Additional contract reminders

  1. Individual choice is not allowed
  2. Acceptable & unacceptable funding sources
  3. Don't remit contributions after an employee's death
