Minnesota Paid Leave is a new state program launching Jan. 1, 2026, that provides paid time off when a serious health condition prevents your employees from working, when they need time to care for a family member or a new child, for certain military-related events or for certain personal safety issues.
What businesses need to do
To determine eligibility and benefit payments for Minnesotans, Minnesota employers need to report wage details for their employees. By December 2025, employers must also inform their employees about their rights and benefits under this new program.
As an employer, you play an important role in helping your employees learn about and access Minnesota Paid Leave. Business owners are invited to attend one of these upcoming sessions to learn more about the program, ask questions and get information to meet their responsibilities under Paid Leave. Light refreshments will be served.
