City Manager Council Update

Minnetonka police welcomed two new officers Thursday during a badge pinning ceremony in the council chambers.

Fire

• Mutual aid: Minnetonka firefigthers supported St. Louis Park on Tuesday after a man was found dead during a house fire. The cause is under investigation.
  
  
• Wednesday crash: A vehicle crashed into Tonka Pizza. While the building suffered damage, there were fortunately no serious injuries.

Police

• Badge ceremony:  The department welcomed two new officers, Jeremy Vergin and Karley Wilkey, and celebrated the promotion of Sgt. Jacob Lindgren Thursday afternoon.

Public Works

• Public Works brush drop site opens this week for winter pruning and brush materials. The site is open every Saturday in March from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  
  
• A newly revamped Right-Of-Way permitting system went live this week for users. The collaboration between GIS and Engineering created a more streamlined process to best handle the significantly increasing volume of annual permit applications.

Minnetonka Momentum high school students visited city hall on Thursday to learn more about public works and engineering. They practiced making bid presentations in front of members of the city's engineering team. Multi-Community Wellhead Protection Plan: A first-ever jointly executed planning effort is being coordinated by the Minnesota Department of Health and Metropolitan Council and includes 8 west metro communities with overlapping drinking water supply management areas. The goal is to provide more efficient and integrated drinking water protection.

• Summer Rec registration opens Tuesday March 4.
