Minnetonka police investigate assault cases

Police Patch PNG

Minnetonka police are investigating separate incidents in which a man assaulted two women in the city Sunday morning. The first encounter took place in the 15000 block of Wayzata Boulevard. A woman reports she was approached by a man in the driveway of her home just prior to 6 a.m. She said the man grabbed her around the neck and displayed a weapon. After a short confrontation, he ran off in the direction of Interstate 394.

Approximately two hours later, a similar confrontation took place on the Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail near the 12000 block of Minnetonka Boulevard. In this case, the man is reported to have grabbed a woman by the shoulder and exposed himself. He then walked away on the trail in a westerly direction.

In both cases, multiple police agencies conducted an extensive search of the area on foot and from the air. No arrests have been made.

Police believe the incidents are connected because of the timeframe and specific suspect descriptions provided by both women. They reported they were confronted by a middle-aged Black male, dressed in a black top and sweatpants. In both cases, his face was partially covered with a blue mask. The victim in the first incident reported the man was wearing glasses.

Police are asking the public to report any suspicious activity they may have noticed in either area Sunday and share surveillance video that may aid the investigation.
