Minnetonka to be Fully Powered by Solar

In January, the Minnetonka City Council approved a contract to build additional solar gardens through Xcel Energy’s Solar Garden program. Once the gardens are operational later this year, all city buildings, street lights and water systems will be powered by solar energy.

By the end of 2019, Minnetonka will be one of the few cities in the state – and the entire country – fully powered by the sun.

By moving to full solar power, the city will significantly reduce its carbon footprint while saving significant money on energy costs.
