How to reuse or recycle propane tanks
Propane tanks fuel our summer activities from grilling to camping. When your large or small fuel tanks are empty, do not put them in your home recycling or trash. While they are made of steel — a very recyclable metal — gas cylinders and tanks contain compressed gas even when you think they’re empty. If they are thrown in the trash or recycling, they can explode and cause injury to workers.
Reuse options:
- Grill tanks – exchange at a gas station or other propane supplier.
- Small, camp tanks – try refillable propane kits sold at most hardware retailers.
Recycling option: Bring your pressurized tanks to The Recycling Zone in Eagan for free recycling.
