New look to MDH WIC webpages
We are updating many of the WIC landing pages that have dropdowns, such as WIC Local Agencies, to have the same look as other MDH webpages. All contents will now display in one column instead of two. Although all of the current content is still available in the same dropdown, its location on the page will most likely have moved.

WIC hardware transition reminder
This is another reminder that WIC is transitioning to locally-owned hardware now that our Information System (WINNIE) is browser-based. Information about this transition was previously provided in the December 2025, WIC Hardware (PDF).
By July, all local agencies will need to decide to take over maintenance of their current state provided computers and hardware or to have transitioned to their own hardware.
Any state provided computers or hardware that will not be kept by your agency as part of this transition must be returned to Gainwell by Nov. 1. Refer to the WIC Hardware (PDF) for information about returning hardware.
You can use the Equipment/Supplies Request form to order extra universal port replicators or computers for your agency. At this time, we are NOT offering extra signature pads, scanners, or card readers. Please submit your request for port replicators or computers before April 30.
Happy International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Day!
Today we proudly honor the outstanding IBCLCs serving families in the Minnesota WIC program and across the world. We recognize their dedication to supporting the breastfeeding journeys of mothers and babies everywhere.
Our WIC lactation consultants are deeply committed to delivering compassionate, professional, and high-quality, evidence-based care to the families they serve. Their expertise and passion ensure that families receive the gold standard in lactation support.
Today and every day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all IBCLCs for the meaningful difference they make in the lives of families.
Failure to thrive
WIC staff play a critical role in promoting appropriate growth and healthy eating behaviors during early childhood. Failure to thrive or growth faltering in children requires early identification, a comprehensive nutrition assessment, and consistent monitoring. Read this month's topic to learn how to support children with failure to thrive: Failure to Thrive (PDF)
Local agency staff should talk to their supervisor for approval before registering for training.
Refer to WIC Annual Required Trainings for staff training requirements.
