Sandy Sather - MDH WIC
Sandy Sather is retiring from MDH WIC. She has held numerous roles over the years with the latest as the West Central region consultant in the nutrition & clinic services unit. We are so excited for Sandy yet know it is a big change for our office. Sandy has made tremendous contributions to WIC services over the years from her historical perspectives, nutrition and training knowledge, work to support local agencies, and management evaluations to her passion for nutrition education for families across Minnesota. The contributions are too numerous to mention!! We will miss her presence and expertise contributing to our work! Thank you!
Here are a few words from Sandy:
My years working in the WIC community are adding up, almost 40 years total with 28 ¾ years at MDH. I can’t begin to list all the changes and incredible advancements in the program in that time. Some of my favorite changes have been the focus on participant centered services and enhanced partnership with our local agencies. It will be hard to say goodbye to the amazing WIC staff across Minnesota. I have enjoyed working with and learning so much from all of you. I’ll miss spending time in WIC clinic and seeing local agency staff connecting with families and positively impacting the health and nutrition of moms and kids. And I’ll miss hearing about your families!
I’m excited to have more opportunity to travel. In the short term I plan to spend some time in Arizona and in Texas this winter. In the long term, I will be looking for opportunities to volunteer at church and in the community. I’m excited to have more time for friends and family, especially the little kiddos in the family!
Minnesota WIC is an incredible program, due to all your contributions. Please know you are valued!
My last day will be Monday, Dec. 1.
