MN WIC services continue during the federal government shutdown. We received additional funding from the USDA to continue program benefits into mid-November.

Message: MN WIC has received additional funds to continue services into mid-November if the federal government shutdown continues. Please keep your WIC appointments, shop with your WIC card, and use your benefits. Questions? Call your local WIC clinic. We will send updates when we have more to share.
Please remind participants to:
- Keep their WIC appointments.
- Continue shopping with their eWIC Card and use their benefits.
- Call their local WIC agency with questions.
- Watch for updates in the WIC mobile app!

With the uncertainty around the federal government shutdown, the shopping experience webinar scheduled for Oct. 30 is canceled. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this creates for those who planned to attend. We will reschedule this webinar for a later date to be determined.
2026 WIC advisory group openings – applications due Friday, Dec. 12
If you’re looking for an opportunity to be more involved on WIC policy issues, priorities and activities, consider being a member of our WIC advisory group. As an advisory group member, you represent a group of agencies and will be asked to share the unique perspective, challenges, and concerns of your group with the WIC management team and your colleagues.
Openings for 2026 include:

Regional representatives - Southwest and Metro.

Caseload representatives – Groups 2 and 6, CHB administrators, LPHA, and Tribal agency.
Who is eligible to apply? WIC coordinators. (We encourage you to discuss this with your supervisor to obtain their support and/or approval.)
How to apply: If interested, fill out the WIC Advisory Group Application. If more than one person applies to represent the group, the WIC coordinators in that group will vote.
Details:
- Meetings are held quarterly on fourth Mondays (January, April, July, and October)
- Virtual on TEAMS.
- 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
- If new, an overview/orientation to advisory group will be offered.
- Terms are three years for regional and caseload representatives.
- Current members can apply for another term if interested.

Spots still available for in-person certified lactation specialist course in Bemidji
Beltrami County Public Health is offering limited spaces in their Certified Lactation Specialist training Dec. 8-12. Training will be held from 8 a.m. to 5:30pm each day at the Bemidji Law Enforcement Center, 613 Minnesota Ave. NW, Bemidji, MN 56601.

Local agency staff should talk to their supervisor for approval before registering for training.

As executive director of the Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, Dr. Colleen Wieck will share how advocacy, inclusion, and family leadership have shaped public policy and opportunity for people with developmental disabilities across the state.
