Recognizing the moment
A note from the Joint Leadership Team
Dear partners:
This is a tender time for public health, and it feels remiss for the Joint Leadership Team to focus just on the path forward in this newsletter and not acknowledge our present reality.
We wish we could tell the future. We suspect it’ll get harder before it gets easier. We know that, in the meantime, we’ll continue to show up for each other.
In Minnesota’s public health system, our relationships and our shared work are as important as they’ve ever been. It’s clear that our partnership has helped sustain us as support for public health shrinks. These relationships will keep carrying us forward.
Together, we’ll keep planting the seeds today for a seamless, responsive, publicly-supported public health system, no matter what happens tomorrow. Yesterday’s seeds are green and sprouting—we see growth through new ways to do foundational work, stronger networks with community, and a sturdier public health infrastructure. Our relationships will keep creating fertile soil for future opportunities.
Minnesotans deserve the very best in public health, and Minnesota’s public health system is committed to doing right by Minnesotans and with Minnesotans. We don’t always know when we’ll harvest the seeds we plant today or how long we have to nurture them—but we do know that none of us is alone, and we’ll work together to keep growing a public health system that can help Minnesotans flourish.
Thank you for helping make that possible.
Sincerely,
The Joint Leadership Team for Public Health System Transformation in Minnesota

We're glad to travel this road together
About the roadmap document
We all have a role to play in creating a seamless, responsive, and publicly-supported public health system, even though we might be travelling down different paths and timelines, and in different vehicles (so to speak).
This summer, the Joint Leadership Team for Public Health System Transformation wrote a roadmap to help Minnesota public health leaders and their organizations move in the same direction.
This roadmap can help orient everyone involved to notice where action is happening around them, the part they could or should play, how they can adapt to changes, and where opportunities or challenges are apparent.
Several activities have happened or are happening to pave the path for action. This roadmap lays out pathways and strategies to build on these activities, and milestones that have already happened.
Read on to learn about the path forward, strategies we’ll use to move toward a transformed system, milestones we’ve already achieved, and priority actions.
