IMPORTANT

WIC initial and closed-out monthly participation

End-of-Month (EOM) will be run this Sunday, Sept. 21. Agencies can begin running the Year-to-Date Participation report in Infoview (INFOVIEW TEMPLATES >> Counts >> Monthly Participation) on Tuesday, Sept. 23. This provides initial participation for August and closed-out participation through June by state, grantee, agency, and clinic.

On Thursday, Oct. 2, counts for initial participation and closed-out months will also be available:

Monthly Participation (MDH WIC website): by grantee.
Local Agency Portal (for users with access): by agency and clinic.

Annual security training - revised

Annual Security Training for all WIC Program staff should be completed by Sept. 30. If you haven’t yet completed your 2025 federal fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2024 – Sept. 30, 2025) annual review of the Security Training modules, new and updated training modules reflecting changes in policy and the information system are now available on the Other Information System Training webpage of the MDH WIC website under Security Training:

Security Training 1: Data Security, Privacy, and Breaches (12 min.)
Security Training 2: Physical and System Security (14 min)
Security Training 3: Access, Storage, Communications, and Sites with Data (11 min.)
Security Training Review: What do you know now? (22 min.) – 25 self-assessment questions and answers

A new Security Training Tracking form is also available. Please use this to help track Security Training completion. Each staff person should sign and date the form once they’ve completed the training. Individual staff signatures are required for verification and auditing purposes.

Training opportunities

Local agency staff should talk to their supervisor for approval before registering for training.

The Perinatal Substance Use Workforce Development Project provides innovative educational activities for healthcare professionals working in perinatal health to increase knowledge of evidence-based recommendations. This channel offers thirteen short e-learning modules on evidence-based practices for caring for people with substance use disorder. Below are a few of the topics:

Preventing workplace violence webinar recording

Registration: Log into the Minnesota Department of Health Learning Center and search for “What about us? Preventing violence for health care professionals”

Presenter: Vikki Sanders, Principal Safety Consultant for the OSHA Consultation Unit at the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.

Description: Learn how to plan for and prevent the unexpected in the workplace, recognition of escalating behavior, basic de-escalation techniques with emphasis on verbal intervention, and reporting procedures and resources.
