Your input needed: Help shape our new mini trainings
The nutrition goal for the federal fiscal year 2027-2028 nutrition education plan is to “Enhance WIC staff assessment and counseling skills for common nutrition risks.” To support this, we’ll be offering a series of recorded, on-demand mini trainings over the next two years. Each 10-minute training will focus on one nutrition topic, such as understanding risk codes, tips for assessment, and counseling recommendations for the specific topic/risk.
We’d love your input! Share your requests, ideas, and experiences to help us develop trainings that are practical, relevant, and useful for you. All WIC CPAs are encouraged to complete the WIC CPA Skill Development Survey . Survey closes August 29, 2025.
Breastfeeding Awareness Month
The Minnesota Department of Health is promoting the WIC program’s breastfeeding support in a news release. It highlights the increase in the number of WIC families starting right away with breastfeeding.

Tip of the month – Quickly identifying active participants in participant search
Clicking the Household ID link when searching for a participant in WINNIE will automatically change your search criteria to statewide. This can make difficult to quickly tell who is active in the WIC program, because these search results include all household members, even those who have aged out of WIC.
To make active participants easier to identify, use the sort order dropdown to change the sort to Date of Birth, then toggle on Descending. This places the youngest household members at the top of the list.
To filter the list further, click on Agency under search criteria to display only household members active in your agency.
Local agency staff should talk to their supervisor for approval before registering for training.
Refer to WIC Annual Required Trainings for staff training requirements.
