WESTAC Highlights Autism Response Education

WESTAC logo

At the June meeting, the Western Regional Trauma Advisory Committee (WESTAC) featured a presentation on "Emergency Response to a Patient with Autism Education" by Joshua Chan of Glacial Ridge Health System.

The session covered common characteristics of autism and strategies to tailor assessments and treatments- helping reduce stress for both clinicians and patients. Emergency Sensory Kits, designed to aid communication in high-stress situations, were also introduced as a valuable tool for hospitals and public safety agencies.
