Quarterly SNAP outreach texting – begins in May
In May, we will add newly enrolled SNAP recipients to our quarterly texting outreach. SNAP enrollment confirms automatic WIC income eligibility for categorically eligible individuals. A new data sharing agreement with SNAP allows WIC to conduct outreach to individuals eligible for WIC, but not currently enrolled.
We will crosscheck names from SNAP with the Medicaid enrollees, so individuals don’t receive more than one outreach text message. We expect the number of SNAP recipients being added to the outreach list to be much smaller than the number of Medicaid recipients.
Our WIC advisory group requested in January that all texts (MA and SNAP) be sent together in the same batch.
WIC advisory group meeting
The next WIC advisory group meeting will be held virtually on Monday, April 28. Refer to the WIC Advisory Group webpage for the agenda.
