Coffee cup

Coffee with the Coordinators

The next quarterly session of Coffee with the Coordinators will be held on January 22nd beginning at 9:30 am. These are engaging, interactive, and resource-sharing conversations among colleagues. All trauma program staff are welcome to join. The link to join the virtual meeting is on the Trauma System website along with a link to submit your questions.

Trauma PI Tip

Trauma hospitals are required to define in policy:

  • Injuries that can be admitted locally (Admission Policy)
  • Injuries that require transfer to a higher level of care (Transfer Policy)

Trauma Program Managers should compare the trauma transfer policy with the trauma admission policy to ensure clarity of practice and no contradictions between the two.

If a case is identified that differs from the hospital policy, the case should be examined through the trauma PI case review process to identify potential opportunities for improvement.

Regional Trauma Advisory Committee (RTAC) Corner

Northeastern Minnesota Regional Trauma Advisory Committee (NERTAC) hosted a booth at the Arrowhead EMS Conference in Duluth recently.

The NERTAC team interacted with participants by providing education on the trauma system as well as the six regional trauma advisory committees (RTACs), helping to identify the attendee's respective RTAC.

The well attended conference included nearly 700 trauma providers from across the state, representing all Minnesota trauma regions.
