Service line public notification communication tips
The deadline for public notification for service lines was Friday, Nov. 15. Customers receiving these notifications may have questions about what the notifications mean, if any action is required, or want more information on lead health risks.
We encourage you to communicate to your customers that:
- Residents will be notified by their water system if they have a service line that needs replacement or may need replacement.
- These notifications are not an indication that there is an immediate problem with their drinking water.
- Water systems routinely test drinking water for lead and notify residents separately if there’s an issue.
