National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW), taking place from Dec. 2 - 6 serves as a critical reminder for health care providers to encourage and promote flu vaccination during the peak of the flu season. This week offers an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of flu vaccination, which is essential to prevent illness, reduce the burden on health care systems, and protect vulnerable populations from complications such as hospitalization and death.
Health care providers play a pivotal role in influencing patient decisions to get vaccinated by offering clear, evidence-based guidance and addressing any concerns or misconceptions about the flu vaccine. Providers are encouraged to offer flu shots during patient visits, participate in local outreach efforts, and promote resources that support flu vaccination uptake. Visit CDC: Influenza (Flu): Clinical Guidance for Influenza Vaccination for more information.
